Rihanna, Kanye, and Kylie, what do they all have in common? They pop up on your timeline, they pop up in your favorite magazines, but recently, they might be popping in a pop-up shop near you. Many celebrities are utilizing this generation’s new concept of mixing impulse with instant fashion, known as “ Pop-Up Shops ”. Pop-up shops are largely used in the fashion world by emerging designers and brands. They are the new wave for customers to experience a spontaneous way to shop.
Sellers are using innovative ways to sell merchandise with booths, store space, and trucks. This new retail method excites consumers by showing them a different way to enjoy retail therapy. According to the Meteoric Rise of Pop-up Retail, “ launching pop-up stores have proven to be an effective way to generate buzz. Retailers can save up to 90% by opening a pop-up shop and vet a product, idea, or to test a particular location.” Even though this new trend of shopping has become popular in the past year, my company, AMCONYC, started the trend back in 2011.
AMCONYC CEO and designer, Adriana Marie, has been producing pop-up shops in Miami, West Palm Beach, Los Angeles, and New York for over six years. We at AMCONYC set the bar so high, many still reminisce about the epic 2014 NYFW pop-up shop. With only eight hours to spare until opening, our venue canceled, but we were still able to find a venue for eight vendors with musical performances from New York’s hottest DJ’s. For three days straight, fashion lovers were wined and dined while surrounded by some of the hottest and rising fashion brands and designers. Recently, Vogue.com stated that pop up’s are the new fashion shows, seems like AMCONYC made pop-up shops the new big thing.
